Android - How to do speech translations with more than one person

There are two ways to have a conversation with someone who speaks a different language.

1.      When you are at the same location as the person you want to have a conversation with

2.      If the person you want to have a conversation with is not at the same location

1. When you are at the same location as the person you want to have a conversation with, you can use your device and do the following:

  • Open Microsoft Translator
  • Tap the Microphone icon
  • Tap the from-language and select your language
  • Tap the to-language and select the language of the person you are going to have a conversation with
  • Tap the icon with 2 microphones
  • Press and hold the microphone icon and say the sentence you want to translate
  • Let go of the microphone icon
  • The translation will be pronounced.

2. If the person you want to have a conversation with is not at the same location, you can both use Translator Live.

  • Open Microsoft Translator
  • Tap the conversation icon which is the icon that contains two figurines

You will need a code to start the Live conversation and there are two ways to get a code:

A. If you are the one who wants to set up a conversation:

  • Tap "Start"
  • Add your name and your language
  • Tap "Enter" and you will see a Conversation code which you can share with someone who you want to have a conversation with.

B. When someone has already started a conversation and gives you a code.

  • Add the code in the text box to the left of the camera icon at Join conversation
  • Tap "Join"
