Windows - How to start a Live Conversation?

The Microsoft Translator app for Windows desktop is retired and is no longer available for download from the Microsoft Store. Please read the Translator blog to discover all your options for translating on your Windows device.

To join or start a Live Conversation each user needs to have Microsoft Translator. Either one of the apps for Windows, iOS or Android or go to: https://translator.microsoft.com/

You will need a code to start or join a conversation and there are two ways to get a code.

If you are the one who wants to start a conversation, take the following steps:
  • Tap or click on Translator
  • Tap or click on Conversation at the top left of your screen
  • Tap or click on Start Conversation
  • Type in your name and your language and tap Enter
  • A 5 letter conversation code will appear
  • Now you can share the conversation code with the people you would like to communicate with
When someone has already started a conversation and gives you a code you can join the conversation as follows:
  • Tap or click on Translator
  • Tap or click on Conversation at the top left of your screen
  • Enter the conversation code in the box on the screen and tap Join
