How do I get my language supported?

Text Languages:

We add new languages periodically. In the process of adding a new language to the automatic translation system, the most important learning material is existing high-quality translations—the same text in two languages.

A significant amount, typically 4 to 5 million words of this type of text, is needed to build a reasonable-quality automatic translation system for a particular language pair. Find out how automatic translation works at www.aka.ms/MT.

Speech Languages

Speech recognition is a totally different process than translation. It requires a whole new set of data (hundred of hours of recorded audios and their associated transcriptions) and trainings of our machine learning based engines to become available. Therefore, we cannot always deliver speech recognition as quickly as new supported languages become available for Microsoft Translator.

We continue to release improvements to the quality of our existing languages and to expand on our coverage of languages from around the world so that more and more people can talk to the Microsoft Translator in their own language.

Stay tuned on our blog (www.aka.ms/Translatorblog), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/microsofttranslator), or Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/MStranslator) for updates to our language coverage.

For the up-to-date list of supported language please go to www.microsoft.com/translator/languages.aspx

  3. Estonian Speech

Please add speech to the Estonian language. It is so important to hear pronunciation of this language in order to properly communicate. Reading the text only is not enough.

  7. Add Kashmiri Language

Kashmiri is a very an ancient Indo aryan language with certain legacy traits. Its the only Dardic language with its own literature. It is spoken by nearly 7 million native speakers. Adding Kashmiri to the translator will allow the richness of the literature to be translated to other forms and allow kashmiri people to communicate to other people across globe.

  16. Add breton language - Brittany

Breton is a Celtic language (ISO 639-1 br) spoken by more than 200,000 people in Brittany, there are about 17,000 children every year who learn Breton in bilingual schools (French / Breton) or entirely in Breton. The Breton language has a large literature, ancient and modern texts, and many media (radio, TV shows ...).

Breton is a language very present on the web, many tools or site offer Breton like Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, Skype, Firefox, Wordpress, but Microsoft Translator does not yet support Breton and this causes many problems on the platforms like Twitter who use this Microsoft's tool.

  18. Why are there so many offline language packs available for iOS and Android, but not your own OS - Windows???

I think it is disgusting that you're prioritising other platforms rather than Windows 10 app

Refer the list and compare the supported languages and offline (downloadable) language packs available here:
