  1. Translator doesn't work correctly

It always shows translating "English to English". I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it doesn't allow any other source languages besides English!

Thanks for your message on the forum.

Translator for Edge recognizes the language of the webpage. So if you were to see that the from-language is English it means that (most of) the page is in English.

Best thing to do is to select the text on the page you would like to translate and use right click to translate the text.

Best regards, Gwenda, Microsoft Translator Team

  3. Select text -> Right click -> Translate

Select text -> Right click -> Translate

Sometimes I don't want to translate the whole page, I just want to see the translation of a word or a sentence.

    Hi,

Thank you for using Microsoft Translator.

(Brazilian) Portuguese is the official language of Brazil, and is spoken by more than 99% of the population. Minority languages include indigenous languages, and languages of more recent European and Asian immigrants. The population speaks or signs approximately 210 languages, of which 180 are indigenous.

    Sincerely,
    Gwenda

Hello and thanks for your comments.

When you go to a website in a different language and tap on the translator button it will ask you if you want to translate to the language of your choice. e.g. go to nu.nl then tap on the translator icon and it has recognized that the page is in Dutch and you now have the choice of language you would like to translate the page to.

    Best regards,
    Gwenda

  6. Why is this only for pages and not words?

Make it so we can translate words and sentences also.

  10. Traduce solo quello che vuole lui ed in modo fantasioso ma quasi sempre sbagliato

Fa letteralmente schifo perché traduce solo quello che vuole lui ed anche quello in modo fantasioso ma quasi sempre sbagliato.
Più che traduttore si dovrebbe chiamare sballatore...!!

    Hello,

Thanks so much for your feedback. It is much appreciated!

Please know that automatic Translations are usually of a lower
quality than professionally translated texts, however the software
learns from corrections and constantly improves its output. As
automatic translations use statistical machine learning to
translate from one language to another it works best when
translating full sentences. It can make errors, especially when the
    phrase lacks context.

You can learn about how automatic translation
    works at https://www.microsoft.com/translator/at.aspx.

    Best regards,
    Gwenda

  12. It's really good to see the translator but it will be the most excellent, if you please add Bangla language for Bangladeshi people.

Although google translator added Bangla language, student will be very helpful to use Edge Translator. If it is possible, you can collect all the data from Google Translator and provide us the best Microsoft facilities.

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. Please know that you can change the settings in such a way that your webpages are automatically translated to the language of your choice:

    - Tap or click the translator icon in the address bar
    - Tap or click on Options
    - Select Always translate foreign language pages without asking
    - Select the language you would like your pages to be translated to

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,
    Gwenda
    Microsoft Translator Team

  16. Add support for selecting the translate to language

Please add support for selecting the translate to language. This way I can translate pages into a language of my choice rather than just whatever my UI language is in the Microsoft Edge browser.

    Hi,

If you tap or click on the Translator button in the address bar at the top of your screen you can select the to language. Also it is possible to select a to language in the settings and allow Translator to translate all webpages you visit to one of the languages we offer.

    Best regards,
    Gwenda
