  7. Allow choosing the language to translate from.

Allow choosing the language from which to translate.

Currently, if the wrong language is detected, cannot translate the page.

  8. show original text when click on translated text, like using on iPad

when surfing Internet by using Microsoft translator on iPad, I find it's so convenient that I can click on the translated text to see the original text. however, I can‘t do that on Edge, what a pity!

  9. Please add the ' Cancel text translation' option.

After I select a sentence and press ' Text Translation ' I can translate the sentence. However, there is no option to cancel the translation. Please add the ' Cancel text ' option.

  13. Deliver an undo functionality

For me it's very important to look up for a few or specific words. Using the app the original word is exchanged by the translation but I can't undo it. That means there is no possibility to take a view on the original text. It's a wild mix of the two languages selected for translation

  15. translate parts of the screen

Add a function that allows the user to highlight a part of the screen (while the app is in the background), and then have it translated in the app. It would essentially be the equivalent of the camera-based translation feature except that it would translate a 'picture' of what is on the screen.

  16. popup translate

please check this chrome extention:TransOver. as an esl learner transover'S translate method is absolutly benefiticial.
i like to read the text in English language. but people like me often struggle with word's meaning.

instead disturbing the reading process with looking at the extentional dictionary program or website, I feel really comfortable with instant popup on text. so that I can keep going to read without any disturbing concentration things. I am insist about that you should add transover's concept in to the translator for edge.

Thank you for posting on the forum.

The Edge Translator Add-in uses auto-detect as the from language. You can only select the to-language. If a page has several languages then please select the text you’d like to translate and use right-click to translate the text.

If you still think it should be seen as a different language please copy the text and paste it in https://www.bing.com/translator/.

    Kind regards,
    Gwenda
    Microsoft Translator Team

  18. Fix how it decides what the page original language is

Currently it appears to decide the original page language using either meta-tags or by reading some of the top text on the page. This doesn't work well on forums where the page heading is English but the posts are in Spanish (or another language). It decides the page is in English and won't let you override it and tell it to translate from the other language to English. It should either scan the entire page looking for non-default language text or at least let us tell it the original language.
