    Hi,

This issue has been fixed in the latest version of the app: v5.2.4.0.

Please try to translate a phrase from Norwegian to any of our offered languages.

You can check if you have the latest version by tapping or clicking on the settings icon at the top right of your screen and then clicking on About. If you don’t have the latest version then download it from the app store.

Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and thanks for your patience.

    Best regards,
    Gwenda
    Microsoft Translator Team

  3. Portuguese from Portugal is set, yet everything is still translating to Brazilian

I have made sure that the settings are set to Portuguese (Portugal) and yet every translation still only gives Brazilian Portuguese translations. For example:
What are you eating for breakfast
PT-BR: o que você está comendo no café da manhã?
PT-PT: o que você está a comer por pequeno almoço?

    Hi,

Thanks for your message on the Microsoft Translator forum.

The setting you chose only has impact on Text-to-Speech. This means that the spoken translation will have a Portuguese accent. The translation itself is not impacted by the setting.

    Sincerely,
    Gwenda

Thank you for using Microsoft Translator. We appreciate your feedback.

The translation system is constantly learning, making corrections, and improving its output.

Automatic translations use statistical machine learning to translate from one language to another, and it works best when translating full sentences. In some instances, it can create errors, especially when the phrase lacks context.

You can learn more about how automatic translation works at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/translator/mt.aspx

Thanks again for your feedback to improve our translation service. Let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with.

    Best regards, Microsoft Translator Team

  7. Update the app (Translator for Windows)

The Windows app lacks many essential features and looks so ugly at the moment. Phrasebooks, one-to-one conversations, alternate translations, and definitions are missing entirely. Offline packs are very limited compared to other platforms. Please update the Windows app and give it the same beautiful design and the same features as the Microsoft Translator app on Android and iOS.

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. It is much appreciated!

Please know that automatic Translations are usually of a lower quality than professionally translated texts, however the software learns from corrections and constantly improves its output. As automatic translations use statistical machine learning to translate from one language to another it works best when translating full sentences. It can make errors, especially when the phrase lacks context.

You can learn about how automatic translation works at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/translator/mt.aspx
