  1. Translations must be made to fit the live tile in the start menu

It's very frustrating when you can't read the full translation of the live tile. This is especially an issue with the Medium size, because making the tile larger results in another word of the day! And there's no way to see the words of the day in the app itself or something either...

For example, I have English -> Romanian on a live tile of Medium size. The word of the day is "record store", but I can't fully see the translation in Romanian, only "magazin de di". And when I type "record store" in the app, I get "magazin…

  3. How can I force Microsoft Translator to work offline?

Locking down Translator in firewall rules doesn't work. Just produces an error. Physically disabling the internet port then allows it to run offline. I just want the tool to run offline, while allowing other tools to work online with out having to visualize it.

  7. Can't copy text from input field in Translator 5.2.4

I can highlight and copy translated text, and there's even a button to copy the entire translation.

Why can't this be done for the ORIGINAL, untranslated text?

There are many scenarios where a user would want to retain the original text - I frequently use translator to ensure my intent will translate well from one language to another, and after fine-tuning the input text to achieve an acceptable translation, it would be convenient to be able to retain that original text instead of re-typing it!

  8. Correct translation errors

Installed latest version of Translator for Windows 10. Norwegian -> English "Unable to translate" error message when trying to translate lots of words; other words is translated wrong: Norwegian word for "vise" is translated to "clock". lots of other words also translate wrong. Only words that is equal or almost equal in Norwegian and English is translated correct.
Synonyms get only one of the possible translation (has been a problem for a long time). This is giving strange results when a whole sentence is typed.

  9. Personal names and company names should not be translated

Nombres propios y marcas comerciales no deberían ser traducidas.

En Español, los nombres propios y las marcas comerciales, no se traducen, se escriben tal cual estén en el idioma de origen. Esto debería ser tenido en cuenta de algún modo, para evitar confusiones. Ej.: traducir General Electric como "eléctrico general" o John como "Juan" es absolutamente incorrecto.

  10. Phrasebook

There should be a way of alerting the developers that a translation is incorrect. Especially within the phrasebook! That incorrect sentences exist there is a big problem.

For example in the German phrasebook, in the "shopping" section the translation for "Is it free?" should be "Ist das kostenlos?" but instead is "Ist hier frei?", which means "Is here available?" as though asking if a seat is taken.

Thanks for your feedback on the Microsoft Translator forum.

Your feedback has two issues. Firstly, the language mistake that you noticed. We will fix this shortly and thank you for pointing this out to us.

Secondly the desire to be able to send in translation errors. For now, this forum is the way to send translation errors to the Translator Team.

    Sincerely,

    Gwenda
    Microsoft Translator Team
